Successfully developed the power fittings for UHV transmission and transformation projects
Nanjing Line Equipment Factory has recently developed electric power fittings specifically designed for ultra-high voltage (UHV) power transmission and transformation projects. These advanced components are set to play a crucial role in supporting the construction of China's UHV backbone grid and will directly serve the country's first 1000 kV AC UHV test demonstration project, which is currently under development.
Power fittings are essential metal accessories that connect and protect various devices within the power system. During the review and acceptance process organized by the State Grid Corporation of China and the Ministry of Science and Technology, experts from the evaluation committee confirmed that the development of UHV fittings filled a critical gap in the domestic market. The research achievements have reached international standards, with the design being both practical and highly efficient. These fittings are well-suited for the construction of UHV AC transmission lines.
China’s 1000 kV UHV AC pilot project, often referred to as the world’s first “electric highway,†is currently underway and is expected to begin commercial operations this year. In addition, the ±800 kV DC Yunnan-Guangdong UHV line was recently launched. To meet the growing demand for UHV infrastructure, Nanjing Line Equipment Factory is ramping up its production of these specialized fittings.
China’s transmission network primarily consists of 500 kV AC and ±500 kV DC systems. UHV grids, operating at 1000 kV AC and ±800 kV DC, represent a major technological advancement in energy transmission. This technology enables more efficient long-distance, high-capacity power transfer while significantly reducing energy losses. Currently, there are no commercially operational UHV transmission lines worldwide. The first 1000 kV AC UHV test project in China spans the Southeast-Nanyang-Jingmen section and marks a significant milestone in global energy infrastructure.
