Successfully developed the power fittings for UHV transmission and transformation projects
Nanjing Line Equipment Factory has recently developed advanced electric power fittings specifically for ultra-high voltage (UHV) power transmission and transformation projects. These fittings are essential components that connect, secure, and protect various devices within the power system. The newly developed products will play a crucial role in supporting the construction of China's UHV backbone grid and will directly serve the country's first 1000 kV AC UHV test demonstration project currently under development.
During the review and acceptance process conducted by the State Grid Corporation of China and the Ministry of Science and Technology, an expert committee confirmed that the development of UHV power fittings filled a critical domestic gap and that the research results reached international standards. The design of the samples is both practical and efficient, with outstanding performance that meets the requirements of UHV AC transmission line engineering.
China’s 1000 kV UHV AC pilot project, often referred to as the world’s first "electric highway," is currently under construction and is expected to begin commercial operations this year. Additionally, the ±800 kV DC Yunguang UHV transmission line was recently launched. In response to the growing demand, Nanjing Line Equipment Factory is ramping up production of UHV power fittings to support ongoing and future infrastructure projects.
China's current transmission network mainly consists of 500 kV AC and ±500 kV DC ultra-high voltage systems. UHV transmission technology, which operates at 1000 kV AC and ±800 kV DC, represents a cutting-edge advancement in the global energy sector. It significantly enhances long-distance, high-capacity power transmission efficiency while minimizing energy loss. As of now, no commercially operational UHV transmission lines exist worldwide. China’s 1000 kV AC UHV test project, located along the Southeast-Nanyang-Jingmen route, is set to change that.
