As of March 1, the dry desulfurization unit at the 8-3 central station of the second gathering and transportation section of Tahe No. 2 Production Plant has safely operated for 1,100 days, successfully processing nearly 100 million cubic meters of high-sulfur natural gas. This milestone highlights the unit's efficiency and reliability in handling one of the most challenging types of natural gas.
Commissioned in April 2005, the 8-3 dry desulfurization plant is a key facility within the Tahe Oil Mine. It consists of six sub-towers, grouped into alternating T1 and T2 units, allowing for continuous operation without shutdowns. Designed and manufactured entirely in China, it stands as the country's largest dry desulfurization system, showcasing domestic technological advancement in the energy sector.
The natural gas processed by this unit contains extremely high levels of hydrogen sulfide, with some wells reaching up to 150,000 ppm. To manage this, the plant employs a "dynamic cycle monitoring technology" during the replacement and use of T1 and T2 desulfurizers, ensuring maximum sulfur capacity and optimal performance. The system processes over 60,000 cubic meters of gas daily, with treated dry gas maintaining a hydrogen sulfide concentration between 0 and 20 ppm—well below regulatory limits.
