Fushun Petrochemical has successfully developed a new gasoline upgrade catalyst
The project titled "Development of a New Type of Catalytic Cracked Gasoline Hydrogenation and Reforming Catalyst," independently developed by the catalyst plant of China Petroleum Fushun Petrochemical Company, has achieved remarkable success. This breakthrough marks a significant step forward in the field of catalytic gasoline upgrading and represents a major achievement in domestic petrochemical technology.
According to the official report, the project team dedicated over seven years of hard work and effort to this endeavor. On November 6, 2007, the company's 200,000 tons/year facility was officially launched. After a period of heating, temperature stabilization, and system commissioning, oil samples were taken and analyzed. The results showed that both the product quality and key technical parameters met the design specifications. As a result, the facility entered the stage of stable operation and long-term testing, signaling a successful milestone in the project.
The development process began with technical introduction in 2001, followed by self-research and development in 2002. A pilot industrial application was conducted in 2004, and in 2005, the project received positive evaluations from relevant units and experts within CNPC during an appraisal in Dalian. This led to the official start of the implementation phase. By November 2007, the project yielded excellent results. It is reported that this new catalyst has already been successfully applied in the 100,000 tons/year facility at the First Oil Plant of Fushun Petrochemical Company. The successful application of two sets of equipment demonstrates that the technology for catalytic upgrading of gasoline has reached a mature stage.
This innovative hydrogenation catalyst technology enables the maintenance of gasoline's octane number while simultaneously reducing sulfur content and improving fuel quality. An expert panel has stated that this technology has reached the leading domestic level and fills a critical gap in PetroChina’s gasoline upgrading capabilities. It is expected to play a vital role in enhancing the production of clean gasoline and improving overall fuel quality across China. This advancement not only supports national energy strategies but also contributes to environmental protection and sustainable development in the petroleum industry.
