China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. Signs Contract for Exporting 2000 Heavy Trucks to Ethiopia
China National Heavy Duty Truck Group (CNHTC) has officially signed a major contract to export 2,000 heavy trucks to Ethiopia, marking the largest deal in the company's history with the East African nation. The agreement was formalized in Addis Ababa, where Mr. Sun Guoqiang, general manager of CNHTC's Ethiopian representative office, and Kebede Teshome, general manager of PBPPE under Ethiopia’s Ministry of Engineering and Urban Construction, inked the deal worth 1.2 billion Ethiopian birr (approximately $130 million). Representatives from both countries, including State Ministers Casu and Alcabe, as well as Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Lin Lin, were present at the signing ceremony.
The order includes 1,000 18-ton dump trucks and 1,000 40-ton flatbed trailers, all branded as HOWO models. The first batch of 300 units is scheduled to be shipped to Hong Kong in mid-February and will arrive in Ethiopia by March. To ensure smooth operations, CNHTC and China Overseas Land Co., Ltd. have prioritized after-sales support. A comprehensive service network has been set up, covering technician training, spare parts supply, and maintenance services.
This deal not only strengthens Sino-Ethiopian trade relations but also highlights CNHTC’s growing presence in the African market. With improved infrastructure and logistics demands across the continent, such large-scale contracts are becoming increasingly common for Chinese manufacturers. This project is expected to play a vital role in supporting Ethiopia’s ongoing development initiatives.
