China's first magnetic bearing with independent intellectual property rights came out in Hangzhou

In a significant breakthrough, the expert appraisal committee led by Academician Wang Yuming from the Chinese Academy of Engineering announced today in Fuyang, Hangzhou, that China has made a major advancement in magnetic bearing technology. The first domestically developed magnetic bearing product, "FS450 Molecular Pump Magnetic Bearing Based on Cross-Feedback Control," was successfully created by Zhejiang Feixuan Technology Co., Ltd. This achievement marks a key step in breaking foreign technological monopolies in the molecular pump industry, positioning China as one of the few countries—alongside France, the United States, Canada, and Germany—to possess independent intellectual property rights in magnetic bearing technology. Magnetic bearings, also known as active magnetic bearings, represent a new generation of high-performance bearings that operate without mechanical contact between the rotor and stator. These systems consist of mechanical components, electronic control units, sensors, and auxiliary bearings. By using electromagnetic forces to suspend the rotor in space, they offer numerous advantages, including no mechanical wear, low energy consumption, high rotational speeds, reduced noise, extended service life, and the elimination of lubrication requirements. By integrating magnetic bearings into molecular pumps, the issue of oil vapor backflow caused by traditional lubricated bearings is fundamentally resolved. This makes magnetic bearing vacuum molecular pumps the preferred choice for high-vacuum equipment used in integrated circuit manufacturing. As a revolutionary development following oil and gas lubrication, magnetic bearings are bringing cutting-edge innovation to the traditional bearing industry. Beyond vacuum pumps, this advanced mechatronic system holds great potential in military, aerospace, petroleum, petrochemical, and energy sectors. Hong Shenping, General Manager of Zhejiang Feixuan Technology Co., Ltd., led the research team that developed magnetic bearings specifically for integrated circuit applications. For the first time in China, the company introduced a 5-degree-of-freedom controlled magnetic suspension bearing for molecular pumps, utilizing cross-feedback control technology to address the gyroscopic effect of flexible rotors at high speeds, thereby enhancing rotor stability. This motorized balancing technique significantly reduces rotor vibration, marking a major step forward in the field of precision engineering.
