China's first magnetic bearing with independent intellectual property rights came out in Hangzhou

The expert appraisal committee, led by Academician Wang Yuming from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, announced this afternoon in Fuyang, Hangzhou, that China has achieved a major breakthrough in magnetic bearing technology. The first domestically developed magnetic bearing product, "FS450 Molecular Pump Magnetic Bearing Based on Cross-Feedback Control," was successfully created by Zhejiang Feixuan Technology Co., Ltd. This milestone marks a significant step in breaking foreign technological monopolies in the field of molecular pump applications, positioning China as one of the few countries—alongside France, the United States, Canada, and Germany—to possess independent intellectual property rights in magnetic bearing technology. Magnetic bearings, also known as active magnetic bearings, represent a new generation of high-performance bearings that operate without mechanical contact between the rotor and stator. These systems consist of mechanical components, electronic control units, sensors, and auxiliary bearings. By using electromagnetic forces to suspend the rotor in mid-air, they offer numerous advantages: no mechanical wear, low energy consumption, high rotational speeds, minimal noise, long service life, and no need for lubrication. When used as support systems for molecular pump rotors, magnetic bearings can eliminate the issue of oil vapor backflow caused by traditional lubricated bearings, making magnetic bearing vacuum molecular pumps the preferred choice for high-vacuum equipment in integrated circuit manufacturing. This innovation represents a revolutionary advancement in the bearing industry, following the evolution from oil and gas lubrication. It brings high-tech solutions to traditional industries and has wide-ranging applications beyond vacuum molecular pumps. The sophisticated mechatronic system holds great potential in military, aerospace, petroleum, petrochemical, and energy sectors. Hong Shenping, the general manager of Zhejiang Feixuan Technology Co., Ltd., and project leader, has pioneered the development of magnetic bearings suitable for integrated circuit equipment. For the first time in China, the company applied a 5-degree-of-freedom controlled magnetic suspension bearing in a molecular pump, utilizing cross-feedback control technology to address the gyroscopic effects of flexible rotors at high speeds, significantly enhancing rotor stability. This advanced motorized balancing technology effectively reduces vibration, ensuring smoother and more reliable performance.
