Bender CC613 charge controller receives the world's first VDE certificate
The latest CC613 charge controller from Bender has been specifically designed for use in AC charging stations operating under Mode 3, meeting the rigorous standards of DIN EN IEC 61851-1 and IEC 62955. This innovation marks a significant milestone as the VDE Association has issued the world’s first certification for a charge controller, streamlining the approval process for wall boxes and stationary charging stations that operate in Mode 3.
This certification applies to the entire CC613 product line, ranging from the entry-level "Home Basic" model, ideal for straightforward home charging, to the advanced "Home Energy Management" version, which integrates with photovoltaic systems for smart energy usage. The top-tier "Fully-Connected" models feature OCPP and 4G connectivity, allowing for accurate billing in compliance with calibration laws.
One of the standout features of the CC613 is its patented 6 mA DC residual current detection, which meets IEC 62955 requirements without the need for an RCD type B. This not only enhances safety but also reduces costs. The power circuit, developed in collaboration with Eaton Industries GmbH, ensures compliance with IEC 62955 up to a performance class of 22 kW.
Dennis Haub, Standardization Manager at Bender GmbH & Co. KG, emphasized: “We successfully met the IEC 62955 standard just in time for the end of the transition period. With our RDC-MD and a type A RCD, we offer customers a cost-effective alternative to the more expensive RCD type B, significantly lowering installation costs.â€
Winfried Möll, CTO at Bender GmbH & Co. KG, added: “Customers who integrate this certified solution into their Mode 3 charging station can expect major simplifications and cost savings throughout the installation and operation phases.â€
