2nd Alarm commercial fire in Batavia, 3-5-14 (more)
This is what John Tulipano shared about the second-alarm fire in Batavia last Wednesday evening:
While I was driving back from responding to another fire in St. Charles, Tri-Com put out a call for a potential fire near 1st and Mallory in Batavia. Police reported visible flames coming from the second-floor windows. When the Batavia fire chief arrived, he found a large, 300 by 75-foot building, similar to a foundry, fully engulfed in flames. He immediately ordered his first engine to use the deck gun and asked which of his first two trucks were available. Without hesitation, he called for a second alarm.

The firefighters really worked hard throughout the night to bring the blaze under control. It was an intense scene, especially with the cold weather making conditions even more challenging. I’m grateful I could capture some of these moments for everyone to see.
