Blue Island FD apparatus
Dennis McGuire, Jr. recently sent us some fantastic images and details about the Blue Island Fire Department, and we’re excited to share this preview with everyone!
Here’s what we’ve gathered so far:
The Blue Island Fire Department operates out of two stations:
- **Station 1:** Located at 2540 Vermont.
- **Station 2:** Situated at Division Street and Canal Street.
This department employs a total of 27 firefighters, including 23 full-time and 4 part-time personnel. They provide coverage for an area of approximately 4.16 square miles.
Take a look at some of their impressive vehicles:
- **Ambulance 2162:** A 2002 Ford E-450 equipped with a Road Rescue Type III module. This ambulance was captured in a great photo by Dennis McGuire, Jr.
- **Ambulance 2128:** Another 2006 Ford E-450, though the specific body builder remains unknown. Once again, Dennis McGuire, Jr. managed to snap an excellent image.
- **Engine 2103:** A classic 1994 Sutphen model with a 1,500-gallon-per-minute pump and 750-gallon water capacity. Dennis McGuire, Jr.’s photography skills really shine here!
- **Engine 2123:** A more recent addition from 2008, featuring an HME SFO/Ahrens Fox design with similar pump and water capacities. The photo of this rig is equally stunning.
