Wish comes true for firefighter’s daughter

Today, the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District and Chicago firefighters joined forces to celebrate a very special occasion. Paige Spicka, a six-year-old girl born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, received her dream wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation — a trip to Disney World in Orlando. After enduring multiple surgeries since birth, this was a moment of joy and hope for her family. The day began with a heartfelt send-off at Station 53, where firefighters, families, and friends gathered to say goodbye. The event featured Disney movies, cake, an obstacle course, and a pinata — all designed to make the day feel like a magical adventure. Paige, dressed in her new custom turnout gear, was clearly excited and full of energy, leading the way through the apparatus bay and even breaking the pinata with a short pike pole. After the party, it was time to head to O’Hare Airport. A specially arranged transport by Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Engine 51, complete with a command car, took Paige and her family on their journey. Her pink car seat was safely secured in the officer’s seat, and she communicated with her dad via headset, making sure everything was ready for the flight. Upon arrival at O’Hare, Chicago firefighters from Local 2 greeted them with a CFD t-shirt and escorted Paige to the gate. The Lincolnshire team was also there for a final farewell, sharing hugs and well-wishes before the family boarded their flight. The entire experience was a beautiful display of community spirit and support. This touching story wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of many individuals, including Tim Olk, who captured every moment with his camera. His photo gallery is a wonderful tribute to the day. The Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Department expressed their gratitude to everyone involved, from local officials to airport staff and fellow firefighters. Paige's journey to Disney World is not just a vacation — it's a symbol of strength, love, and the power of dreams. As she boards the plane, she carries with her the support of a whole community that believes in her. And as the saying goes, "A wish made is a wish fulfilled."

Antibacterial Powder Coating

Antibacterial powder coating is a special type of powder coating that has the function of inhibiting bacterial growth.
This type of coating typically contains antibacterial agents, which can form a protective antibacterial layer after the coating is cured, effectively inhibiting the reproduction and spread of bacteria.
Antibacterial powder coatings are widely used in medical equipment, food processing equipment, public places, sanitary facilities, and other places and equipment that require cleanliness and hygiene to be maintained.
Their advantages include long-lasting antibacterial effects, resistance to the influence of cleaning agents and disinfectants, as well as being friendly to both human health and the environment.
The use of antibacterial powder coatings can effectively reduce the risk of bacterial transmission, ensuring people's health and safety.
