Armored Belts Protect Crossbelt Magnets from Excessive Wear and Extend Belt Lifespan

These crossbelt magnets operate by creating a strong magnetic field that attracts ferrous materials from the conveyed product. As the metal is lifted, it comes into contact with the self-cleaning belt, which then transports the metal to a collection area. However, the force of this interaction can be significant, especially when dealing with large or heavy metals.

This can cause substantial damage to the belt over time, leading to frequent replacements and downtime. That’s why Bunting engineered an armored belt made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) slats, which are lightweight yet highly durable. These slats are attached using stainless steel bolts and nuts, ensuring a secure and long-lasting fit.

The armored belt is particularly beneficial in applications where:

• There is a high concentration of ferrous material in the feed.
• Large or heavy metal pieces are being processed.
• Thin, sharp, or jagged metals like nails are present.
• High-force magnetic blocks such as the ElectroMax or ElectroMax-Plus are used.
