This groundbreaking integration combines Mirion’s RDS-32™ radiation survey meter with Flyability’s Elios 3 drone, making it the first commercially available indoor drone capable of performing remote radiation surveys and precise localization. The system allows users to map environments while collecting radiological data, which can then be visualized in a high-resolution 3D model of the asset. The new solution enables nuclear personnel to gather critical radiation data from a safe distance, eliminating the need to enter hazardous areas. All flights with the radiation payload can be analyzed using Flyability’s Inspector software, which generates detailed reports. The Elios 3 has also been tested for radiation resistance in a project led by the U.S. Department of Energy and the Idaho Environmental Coalition. Results showed that the drone can withstand up to 10,000 R/h and a total accumulated dose of 4,000 R, proving its durability in high-radiation environments.
