CAFT flashover training
This past week has been all about intense training for firefighters from the Buffalo Grove, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, and Long Grove departments. They’ve been taking turns going through some serious flashover training sessions at the Combined Area Fire Training Center in Buffalo Grove. It’s no easy feat, but they’re really pushing themselves to master these skills. Tim Olk and Larry Shapiro even dropped by to capture some of the action—check out their photos below.

There’s something incredibly humbling about watching these professionals work under pressure. Each photo tells its own story, capturing not just the physical demands of the job but also the camaraderie among the team members.

One particularly touching moment came when we noticed a firefighter from Lincolnshire-Riverwoods wearing a helmet sticker supporting their fellow Lieutenant Jim Carney, who’s currently fighting cancer. It’s little gestures like this that remind us how much firefighters care for one another both on and off the job.
