Vintage Chicago Cadillac ambulance
I just came across something absolutely fascinating while checking out the Svengoolie Hearse Club Show in Lombard. It was the Chicago Fire Department’s Ambulance 8, a real blast from the past! This beauty is a 1970 Cadillac ambulance, complete with all its original interior equipment. As soon as I saw it, I felt like I’d stepped back in time.
The attention to detail and the vintage feel were incredible. I couldn’t help but snap some photos. You can really tell that this vehicle has history behind it. The first picture shows the exterior, looking sleek and classic, while the second one gives you another angle to appreciate its timeless design.
Inside, the third photo reveals how authentic everything feels. From the seating arrangements to the medical supplies, it’s all preserved as if it were still 1970. And then there’s the final image, showcasing some of the vintage EMS equipment that truly adds to the charm of this old-school ambulance.
It’s amazing to think about how far emergency vehicles have come since then, but this piece of history remains a testament to the past. Rick Moravecek was kind enough to let me use his photos, and I’m so grateful for the chance to share this nostalgic find with everyone.
