Flyability, in partnership with FARO technologies, announces a new elios 3 surveying payload for centimeter accuracy in challenging environments
October 20, 2023 — Flyability, the global leader in confined-space drones, has unveiled a groundbreaking new Surveying Payload for its Elios 3 drone at InterGEO in Berlin. This latest innovation is set to redefine how professionals conduct inspections in challenging and hazardous environments.
The new payload, the Ouster OS0-128 Rev 7, offers centimeter-level accuracy and enhanced performance, making it ideal for scanning hard-to-reach areas safely. It comes with a complete package that includes training, reflective targets, and access to FARO Connect, a powerful software solution designed specifically for processing LiDAR data.
Key improvements include increased precision, extended range, higher point density, and better photon sensitivity. Compared to the previous Ouster OS0-32 Rev 6.2, this new version delivers more detailed and accurate scans, including volumetric measurements within 1% of terrestrial laser scans. It also excels in symmetrical environments, making it a top choice for inspecting wastewater systems and underground infrastructure.
FARO Connect plays a crucial role in streamlining the workflow. With built-in SLAM presets optimized for the Elios 3, it automatically detects reflective targets as ground control points, aligns multiple point clouds, and filters out noise. The processed data can be exported in standard formats, ensuring seamless integration into existing workflows.
