2-Alarm fire in Cicero, 6-1-21
**Live Update from Chi-Town Fire Photos:**
Cicero firefighters responded to reports of flames at 28th and Cicero Avenue late Tuesday afternoon. The initial dispatch address was updated to 4827 & 4829 West 28th Street after multiple calls came in. Engine Company 3 arrived first and reported significant fire showing from the rear of a two-and-a-half-story wooden structure with exposure concerns. Shortly after, Cicero Fire Engine 12 arrived and quickly boxed the fire. Engine 12 confirmed heavy fire in two adjacent two-and-a-half-story buildings. All three Cicero engines deployed multiple 2.5-inch lines to combat the blaze.
Truck Company 2 attempted an aggressive “Milwaukee-style†cut, which helped preserve part of the roof on one building. Meanwhile, Truck Company 1 worked on the roof of the adjacent structure, making several critical holes to prevent further spread. Mutual aid was requested from neighboring departments including Berwyn, Stickney, Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park, Bedford Park, Lyons, and Riverside.
The combined efforts of all the responding units were impressive. They executed both interior and exterior attacks with great efficiency, managing to save not only the affected structures but also protect surrounding buildings from the intense flames. It was a challenging situation, but their teamwork and quick actions made a significant difference.
