Tinley Park FD Open House 10/11/2014
I just got back from the TPFD open house that happened last Saturday, October 11th. It was such an interesting event! I made sure to snap some pictures while I was there—of the firefighting equipment and even the live room burns they demonstrated. If you're curious to see more, check out this album I put together on Facebook: [link to Facebook album].
The day was packed with informative sessions and interactive displays. They had everything from demonstrations on how to use fire extinguishers to talks about fire safety tips for families. I especially liked the part where they showed us how quickly a small flame can turn into a major fire if it's not handled properly. It really drives home the importance of being prepared.
Here are some photos I took during my visit:
[First Photo Caption] This is one of the firefighting trucks they showcased. You wouldn’t believe how many tools are inside!
[Second Photo Caption] A firefighter explaining the basics of fire safety to a group of kids. The turnout was fantastic, and everyone seemed engaged.
[Third Photo Caption] One of the live burn demonstrations. Watching them in action was both impressive and slightly nerve-wracking at the same time.
[Fourth Photo Caption] Inside the training area. It’s incredible to think about all the practice these firefighters go through to stay ready for anything.
[Fifth Photo Caption] Another angle of the truck. Each detail has a specific purpose, which they were happy to explain.
[Sixth Photo Caption] A quick shot of the crowd gathered around. There was definitely a sense of community spirit as people learned more about fire prevention.
It was a great reminder of why Fire Prevention Week is so important. I left feeling grateful for the hard work these firefighters do every single day. Let’s hope we never have to rely on their services personally, but it’s comforting knowing they’re always there if needed.
