Daimler is negotiating on the production of commercial vehicles in India


The morning news on December 2 The Indian Economic Times reported on Wednesday that Daimler , the world's largest truck manufacturer, is in talks with Indian Bajaj Auto and TVS Group on the production of commercial vehicles in India.

The newspaper quoted informed sources as saying that Daimler will initially produce light and medium-sized trucks in 2010 and heavy-duty commercial vehicles in 2012. Daimler is the second-largest luxury brand car manufacturer, which includes the Mercedes-Benz brand.

It was not immediately possible for Bajaj Auto officials to comment. A high-level TVS person told the newspaper that so far, the company is not interested in entering the four-wheeler sector.

Bajaj Auto is the second largest motorcycle manufacturer in India and is the country's largest manufacturer of motor tricycles. The company is negotiating a car project with Renault and Nissan. TVS Motor, part of the TVS Group, is India's third-largest two-wheeler manufacturer.
